Arete — ἀρετή — is the ancient Greek idea of excellence: not moral virtue alone, but a person or thing operating at the fullest extent of its potential. The Greeks applied it as readily to a warrior, a craftsman, a horse or a well-made tool as to a leader’s character. The common thread is something performing genuinely at its best, not merely appearing impressive.

That distinction is the standard we work to. A property or yacht is represented by ARETE & Co because it demonstrates something operating at its potential — well-designed, well-built, well-run — not because it is simply expensive. Excellence as a standard applied, not a claim made.

We are a boutique private office spanning prime and super-prime real estate, and luxury yacht charter and brokerage, across London, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Our curation is deliberately narrow: every listing is assessed against that same bar before it is shown to a client.

The private-office standard is expressed through the quality of our curation, the restraint of our presentation, and the calibre of what happens after an enquiry — not through restricting access to what we show. Every property and yacht in our care is publicly browsable; discretion is a matter of how we work with clients, not a gate on the content itself.
